FOOD ADDITIVES THAT MAY BE HARMFUL

Artificial Colourings : Used in beverages,candy, baked goods, fruit cocktail, Soft drinks, sausage, desserts may cause allergic reaction, causes cancer in mice.

Brominated Vegetable Oil Emulsifier : Used in soft drinks. Leaves Possibly toxic deposits in body tissues Butylated Hydroxytoluene Generally safe, Used in dry cereals, Chewing gum, Potato flakes. May cause allergic reactions and enlarge the liver Caffoin Stimulant, Occurs naturally in Coffee, Cacao,tea. Generally safe May cause insomnia, nervousness, birth defects, miscarriages 

Monosodium Glutamate : Flavor enhancer Used in soup, sauces may cause a burning sensation in forearms, back of neck, tighness in chest, headache .

Sodium chloride: Flavoring, preservative. Used in large quantities in most processed foods, Needed in small quantities But in excess, it may cause high BP and contribute to heart and kidney disease.  

Sucrose, Dextrose, Sweetners : Used in soft drinks, baked foods and many others foods. No nutritional value, adds empty calories calories and promotes tooth decay.

 Compounds in Tobacco that are dangerous to Non-Smokers 

Carbon Monoxide: A highly toxic, flammable gas used in the manufacture of numerous chemical products. Inhalations of Carbon monoxide interferes with the transportation of Oxygen from the lungs to the tissues in which it is required.

Nicotine: A poisonous alkaloid that is the chief active principle of tobacco. It is also used as an insecticide, and to kill  parasitic worms in animals. Ammonia: A gaseous alkaline compound of Nitrogen and Hydrogen, used as a coolant in refrigerating and air- conditioning equipment, and in explosives, artificial fertilizers and disinfectants. Formic Acid: A pungent liquid acid used in processing textiles and leather. Exposure to the acid irritates the mucous membranes and causes blistering.

Nitrous Oxides: A group of irritating and sometimes poisonous gases, which combine with hydrocarbons to produce smog. Nitrogen dioxide can weaken bodily tissues and increase susceptibility to respiratory ailments. 

Other Compounds (Found in traces) : Hydrogen cyanide, Formaldehyde, phenol, Acetaldehyde, Hydrogen sulfide, Pyridine, Methylchloride, Acetonitrite, Propinaldehyde, Methanol Exposure to these compounds irritates the mucous mcmbranes and cycs. Increases heart beat, Blood Pressure. Decreases the number of RBC& WBC.
